The frame is powder coated (and the PSU is painted as far as I can tell). When you don't have bare metal this can limit the conductivity, so it is safer to add a cable in that case. You would still need a cable between the frame and the screen PCB, though it .IMPORTANT: Connecting the filament sensor cable properly is crucial. If you don't follow the instructions properly, you will burn the sensor!!!
