Based on the pictures above, a lot of models fell somewhere in between. We bought a 1982 VC Intrepid wood/coal stove and the clearances in the 1982 VC material for rear placement on protected wall says 16" to wall, 16" above height of stove if top exit. Right? When its in its permanent location I'll be using tile, but even with that I believe it may require a heat shield on the bottom, but I have to double check that.
