For mine I put it inside the box, and then fully closed the box. I have two different types of units, a cassette in-ceiling type (that has a sheet-metal box inside the ceiling), as well as a wall-mounted unit.I built this box to contain the grim Wemos D1 mini arduino compatible (almost) board with wifi for a few bucks. It can host a mini (with PCB antenna) or a pro .
I tested the device, and wifi works fine when it's sitting on the top of the brick pedestal, but neither the D1 Mini nor my phone get any wifi inside the box. I should say, . I built this box to contain the grim Wemos D1 mini arduino compatible (almost) board with wifi for a few bucks. It can host a mini (with PCB antenna) or a pro mini with ceramic or external antenna. There is a small .
I have made files for "Wemos D1 mini" and "Wemos D1 mini pro". I also made two lids, one closed and one with an opening for the Wemos OLED 0.96" shield in .I built this box to contain the grim Wemos D1 mini arduino compatible (almost) board with wifi for a few bucks. Printed on Original Prusa Mk2, using 1.75mm PLA @ 0.20mm resolution. I have several Wemos units in the same config, dual base with D1 in one slot and SHT30 board with stacked OLED board in the other slot. I do not .
I have made this box to house my set of Wemos D1 mini boards used as a sensor. It holds up stack of 4 boards (I have a Wemos D1 mini, buzzer board I2C connector board and WS2812 .
A closed box of steel isn't going to substantially prevent the H field penetrating inside. Think about the fact that you can extend the range of a magnet by putting some iron on one of the poles. If it were mu metal (rather than steel) . Think of how a multi element antenna works. RF is reflected and directed with metal element. It isn't passing through them, instead the elements 'vibrate' and radiate the RF directionally. A metal box can do the same thing. The RF may not pass through it, but the box will re-radiate a modulated signal to the outside.Small project box for the Wemos D1 Mini that also holds a DHT22 sensor & wires. | Download free 3D printable STL models It's also possible the box parts have some coating (paint or a plastic film) that prevents the two metal part making a metal-to-metal contact anywhere in the seam. The fact that the two parts overlap by 1 cm does mitigate this somewhat, so you would expect some blocking from this arrangement.
Electrical - AC & DC - How to remove metal KO from inside the box - Need some inside-the-box thinking here. I have a 4x4 Raco metal box in a drywall-finished studwall, 12 off the floor, no insulation. I want to remove a KO on the top of the box so I can add a receptacle at about 6' height (yes, wall mount TV). II have made this box to house my set of Wemos D1 mini boards used as a sensor. It holds up stack of 4 boards (I have a Wemos D1 mini, buzzer board I2C connector board and WS2812 board) with headers and you can slide a display on top and there is space for a temperature sensor on the back (so it wont heat much from inside components and one PIR board in the front.Using metal corners, I proceed to the assembly of the frame. Before assembling the insulation and the roof, I decided to perform painting to protect the wood. The coop is also necessarily painted on the inside to close the pores and reduce formaldehyde vaporization from the particle board. For the floor, there is a special approach.OK, not specifically “out of the box” but a waterproof DS18B20 + Wemos D1 mini running ESPHome would be easy to build and integrate with Home Assistant. . The tags do have great range. I have one tag manager and the furthest tag is inside a metal deep freeze two floors below in the basement and at the other end of the house. I doubt you .
Yes. Metal boxes will reduce signal strength. I have a Shelly in the garage that’s housed in a metal box. The signal is def lower with the cover on the box, but it’s still sufficient to work. Best just to try it. Will vary on distance from the router/access point.Good advice, except for the smoke part. It is def a concern, in fact it is one of the greatest concern's for humans in terms of danger. As the smoke/fumes contain high concentrations of hydrogen fluoride (HF) & phosphoryl fluoride (POF 3) gas, which are incredibly toxic and fatal in many cases.. Even a small cell releases enough to kill you, independent to charge state.Adding the WeMoS and a junction box to hold the circuitry, the project is now complete and ready to be used. . The circuit is mostly the same, only that it has been relocated inside a metal box, with the only highlight being the LM7805 voltage regulator that has been used to step down to and then power the ESP.

The Wemos D1 Mini on one side, the sensor(s) on the other side. The venting keeps the interior from getting above ambient, and not having to stack the sensors on the Wemos keeps the readings accurate.Avoid Wemos. Trash. Damn things reset every time we lose power and we have to try and relink these things all the time. PITA. . and putting them inside a metal electrical box will also necessarily compromise their ability to get signal. It’s not a configuration issue. It’s a fundamental engineering and design flaw.
I have several Wemos units in the same config, dual base with D1 in one slot and SHT30 board with stacked OLED board in the other slot. I do not have a 3D printer, but our library does. I am looking for a box design that will . I've made a simple sketch which displays my subscriber count and it is working fully. I have made a wooden box for it so I am going to screw it together with the Wemos inside. When I disconnect the usb chord and stick it back in the Sketch seems to reboot but nothing is displayed on the Dot Matrix.

Wire antenna for Lolin/Wemos D1 Mini
I found some good articles comparing the original V1/V2 to the V3, and variations for some of the clones out there. So I ordered a couple of V3.0 from Amazon. Although the package was marked V3, inside were two V4.0 boards. In trying to decide whether to send them back I reviewed the schematics and noted the following differences.

BUT, since the micro-USB connector must be placed upwards, the "mini pro" version is mounted with the antenna connector upwards and the "mini" mounted withe the metal lid downwards (upside down really).

The WEMOS module is hard-mounted with M3 screws and spacers but it's important that the ultrasonic sensor is not mounted through the metal cans, I used hot glue on the back of the PCB. . This time the connector will be inside the box and hopefully fare better: Attachments. photo_2024-08-15 11.51.16.jpeg.

Do be careful that your power source is close to 3.3v though - Too low will cause instability and too high will fry the thing right quick.Power is Connected to the 5V pin on the Wemos and Ground is connected to the ground (GND) pin on the Wemos, completing the servo circuit. OLED Display. The OLED screen displays status messages, like “Lock” or “Unlock,” depending on the servo’s movement. The connections are: SCL connected to D1 on the Wemos, SDA is Connected to D2 on . So I bought one of these intermatic z-wave modules for my pool. I used it to replace an existing mechanical time clock. I used an old power cord to power the module and plug it in near the hub. The hub found it right away and it worked great. I installed in outside in the pool circuit panel, repaired the network, and it turned right back on. However, it does not respond .
The resonance frequency of the metal box is important. . be a slot antenna cut in the box, fed with a short coax cable from the PCB. If you're forced to use a PCB-based antenna inside a box, cut an opening that has a circumference of 1 wavelength at 2.4 GHz. . Wemos D1 Mini Project Box
The Wemos D1 Mini is a popular ESP8266 module with built in WiFi support and USB interface. It can be easy programmed via the Arduino IDE and other platforms supporting the ESP8266. An ESP8266 module, such as the Wemos D1 Mini, can be connected to a relay to provide the same functionality as the Sonoff Smart Switch.
