I am building a mist type coolant system for my CNC'd knee mill. Its going to be more like a droplet style MQL/almost dry machining type of thing. I am trying to figure out what the options for coolant for these are and if anyone has a favorite. So far I . I'm trying to mill slots in 6061 aluminum. I'm using 3/16" 3F Aluminum specific end mills and cutting at 6000RPM, 18-27IPM, and .050-.135" DOC. I haven't been using coolant, just an air blast. It works fine with 3/8" end mills, but with the smaller end mills I'm getting chips welded to the slot walls and after a few minutes the end mills load up.
