I have access from above so i am installing a junction box in the ceiling and then just wiring up the new light to the junction box.I want to replace a pendant light fitting with a flourescent fitting. I am trying to replace a ceiling rose (with a loop I believe) to a more decorative light. Pictures of both attached. I am guessing that I need a forth junction box to sit inside the light .This article explains how to remove the ceiling rose and replace it with a suitable junction box mounted in the ceiling void with a single cable feeding back through the ceiling to the new light . At least it has proper cable clamps and terminations. Bazzas suggested product is sound, the shelley is designed to fit inside a type of backbox that is commonplace in mainland . Feed the wiring through the rose of the new pendant and screw the rose into the ceiling. If you have junction box wiring you will only have one cable that will have an earth (yellow and green), blue (neutral) and brown .
